How forgetting things pushed me to build NagMeLater

I started NagMeLater.com because I kept dropping the ball on simple but important things. Birthdays, renewals, follow‑ups, health checkups. My calendar was full, my to‑do apps were full, but my brain still felt cluttered. I realised I didn’t need another “productivity tool”, I needed something that would gently nag me on the one app I actually open every day – WhatsApp. That was the seed for NagMeLater: a WhatsApp‑based reminder and accountability companion. No new app to install, no new habit to build. Just message, set a reminder, and get nudged at the right time. The motivation became stronger when I saw how many founders, professionals, and even family members struggled with the same thing. Important tasks slipped, small leaks created big stress, and people felt guilty for “not being disciplined enough”. I wanted to remove that guilt and turn it into a system. The journey has not been smooth. Getting WhatsApp automation right, dealing with APIs, payments, and compliance, and keeping the product running on a tiny budget has been a constant challenge. I’ve had nights where a small bug broke renewals or access for paying customers, and I had to fix it fast while also doing support, marketing, and sales myself. Another big challenge has been focus. As a solo founder with a services business on the side, it’s tempting to keep adding features or chasing every new AI trend. I’ve had to remind myself that NagMeLater wins when it stays simple: reliable reminders, helpful nudges, and a human‑like experience inside WhatsApp. Today, NagMeLater has paying customers, thousands of reminders delivered, and people who genuinely rely on it to manage their day and their life. It’s still small, but it’s real. For me, that’s the most meaningful part of this journey: turning a personal frustration into something that quietly helps others show up on time, keep promises, and take care of what matters.

KEY LEARNING & ADVICE

Focus on one real, painful problem and solve it in the simplest possible way. NagMeLater works not because it’s fancy, but because it meets people where they already are – WhatsApp. You don’t always need a big launch or a complex product. You need something that people actually use when life gets messy.
